La scorsa settimana sono apparse due dichiarazioni pubbliche in merito ai provvedimenti presi nell’ultimo Consiglio Generale della Federazione Mondiale della Gioventù Democratica (WFDY) svoltosi a Caracas il 10-11 aprile. Le due dichiarazioni pubbliche ci riguardano da vicino in quanto si è consumato un pesante scontro tra due organizzazioni giovanili comuniste, FGC e FGCI, in seguito all’esclusione di quest’ultima dal suddetto organismo internazionale. La ragione starebbe nella presunta discontinuità della attuale FGCI (Federazione Giovanile Comunista Italiana) rispetto alla precedente FGCI (Federazione Giovanile Comunisti Italiani, organizzazione giovanile del PdCI). Questo cambio di denominazione avrebbe dovuto portare ad una nuova richiesta di adesione al WFDY, sebbene appaia evidente la continuità sostanziale tra le due organizzazioni soprattutto a livello territoriale.
Certamente, si dirà, vi sono dei regolamenti e delle procedure da rispettare. Allo stesso tempo però vorremmo porre delle semplici questioni sul piano puramente politico. L’avanzamento delle destre reazionarie e xenofobe non è un fenomeno puramente italiano, ma ci pare evidente che riguardi l’intero scenario internazionale. In quest’ambito un’organizzazione antimperialista come il WFDY rappresenta un punto di riferimento e il suo ruolo può essere fondamentale come organizzazione aperta e inclusiva in modo da intensificare la lotta contro l’imperialismo, contro l’avanzata dei nuovi fascismi, contro il costante arretramento dei dritti sociali e civili per la nostra gioventù. Ci chiediamo dunque l’opportunità politica di incorrere in questo tipo di iniziative, ci chiediamo se altre e più ragionevoli soluzioni fossero possibili.
I Giovani Comunisti negli ultimi mesi sono decisamente impegnati nel rafforzare la presenza in ambito internazionale e nel rinsaldare le relazioni con le organizzazioni giovanili interne al WFDY mettendo in pratica uno spirito unitario e inclusivo, superando le divisioni ideologiche e supportando ogni sforzo per un’unità indispensabile in ambito internazionale specie se tra organizzazioni comuniste. È un richiamo all’unità quello che vorremmo fare in primo luogo, chiedendo di abbandonare gli eccessivi burocratismi. Pensiamo che quanto successo alla FGCI non sia ciò di cui abbiamo bisogno, tanto in Italia quanto in ambito internazionale.
L’unità nella diversità è stata una costante nella storia del movimento operaio italiano e delle sue organizzazioni, la situazione politica italiana non ci permette cedimenti in tal senso ed è dunque necessario operare affinché si rafforzi la rappresentanza comunista italiana in ambito internazionale, superando le divisioni e accantonando le ragioni di uno scontro che rischia di divenire inintelligibile ai più e non utile nell’affrontare le vere urgenze che la realtà ci pone davanti quotidianamente.

Unity in diversity
Last week two public statements have been published about the decisions taken during the last GC of WFDY in Caracas, 10th-11th of April. These two statements concern us closely due to the heavy conflict between two Italian communist youth organizations, the FGC and the FGCI, after the exclusion of the FGCI from WFDY. The reason why this happened is linked to the presumed discontinuity of the present FGCI (Federazione Giovanile Comunista Italiana – Italian Communist Youth Federation) compared to the previous FGCI (Federazione Giovanile Comunisti Italiani – Italian Communists Youth Federation). The change of the name would have required a new application for the WFDY membership, although is clear the substantial continuity between the two organizations, especially at local level.
Certainly, rules and procedures should be respected, but at the same time we want to consider the matter politically. The advance of reactionary and xenophobic right-wing parties is not just an Italian phenomenon, but it concerns the whole international dimension. In this context the WFDY is a reference point in the struggle against the imperialism, the new forms of fascism and the retreat of social and civil rights and its role is fundamental as an open and inclusive organization in order to strengthen this fight. Therefore, we wonder about the political opportunity of this kind of decision and if other ways and more reasonable solutions were possible.
During the last months the Young Communists improved their presence in the international context strengthening the relations with the youth organizations of WFDY. We are committed to work with a unitary and inclusive spirit going beyond the ideological division and supporting every kind of efforts in order to reach an essential unity in the international dimension, especially among the communist youth organizations. We would draw the Italian communist youth organizations to the unity asking them to abandon the excessive bureaucratic attitudes. We think that what happened to the FGCI is not what we need as in Italy as well in the international arena.
The unity in the diversity has been a constant during the history of the Italian working-class movement and its organizations. The Italian political situation doesn’t allow concessions and divisions, it’s necessary to act in order to strengthen the Italian communist presence in the international bodies. We have to put aside the reasons of a conflict that risks to became not comprehensible to the many and not useful to face the real urgencies that reality offers us daily.
